Chapter 2, When things go south and you need a hand.

Herrow!

So i went broke. The odd tournaments i played at gala were still keeping me but realistically they didn’t cut it, something had to be done. I had to get backed, i took Jamie and Dave up on a live backing deal, and Ash on an online deal. and so far my life has been so much easier, I was able to withdraw my online rolls so i had some liquid cash and i was able to continue playing poker whenever i wanted. In my eyes i feel like it was the correct move for me.

I would like to talk about this hand and my thought process.

  • So far his image has been pretty tight. He has only shown down alot of good hands and i also have him noted as an excessive limp folder. My image has been reasonably tight but i have started to change gears and became more aggressive as we are embarking the bubble.
  • When he initially makes up the small blind i’m putting him on pretty speculative hands, suited and un suited connectors along with low pocket pairs and high suited 1 gap connectors, even pocket pairs would be funky though because he is more likely to raise into me than make up the BB
  • After my raise when he calls i feel like his range has become high suited connectors, ragy suited aces, i find that alot of people will call a raise after they have made up because they feel that if they dont they have wasted 1/2 a BB, i dont feel he will ever be strong in this position because at this stage of the tournement he would want to try take down the blinds and antes, not play a hand out of position.
  • So the flop comes Ks-8d-7h , one diamond to go with my Ad-Qd, and he checks, i feel like the only possible thing he could of hit would be a King or a set at best. I of course “C” bet the flop, he flats. Im pretty sure he is just floating with a strange draw, like 9J, TJ, TQ, 8Q? There the only logical hands i can put him on the rest he is definitely in my eyes raising me.
  • The turn is the Kd, he checks. I pick up equity and decide to barrel the turn with my new found equity. I also see the second K as blocker for him to ever have a king, it also makes no change to his draw.
  • The river, Kh. HE JAMS! i just don’t think he is ever doing this with a king & every draw has missed, i guess he could be doing it with an 8 or a 7 but if he has either an 8 or a 7 he has played the hand so strangely and i just don’t believe him.
